Stop the NASCARization of road racing!

"Ok, so imagine you live in Portugal and your moving house. you find a lovely farm house set in a decent plot of land. The place has been empty for 15 years!

Whilst exploring your new property, you find a large barn in the trees. The door is padlocked shut and its all rusted solid. So you grind the padlock open.........

Imagine you're Ali Baba, stumbling on the 40 Thieves' treasure -- only the thieves are long gone and the treasure is actually 180 European cars of various description. That's kind of what happened in this case, where inside a warehouse welded shut for years, a wealth of dusty cars -- Jags, Porsches, Lancias, Alfa-Romeos, Lotus', Austin Minis, Renaults, open-wheel formula cars, and on and on -- sat rusting for over 15 years. No word yet on who's claiming the cars, or what will become of them, but we'd imagine there are a few resto shops in Lisbon whose phones are ringing off the hook.

Fantastic isn't it? They all seem to have Dutch license plates, now why do I have the feeling something fishy has been going on?

So nobody knows how they got there? Are they maybe stolen?

I just dont see how the nobody, family oe whoever did not know they were there.

I think they are all cars used in bank robberies, kidnappings, murders etc.carried out by the Dutch Mafia. coolsmiley

Well if you buy the land and that barn is on it with all those cars in it, doens't that mean all those cars are yours? I'd be pitching a fit saying I bought the property and that includes everything thats on it! Not a huge fan of some of those cars but I'd keep the ones I'd like sell the others and buy some of my favorite classics. (50s Caddies, Buicks, and Chevys)

No, I believe the owner would still be the person who has the title to the car.  Atleast in the U.S...

Same here in Europe, although since the person who bought the land is entitled to everything on it, the titles should be given to him. He could probably get a court order easy!

If the cars were stolen or something along those lines, then they would go back to the original owners.  Otherwise, since the man who had possesion of the cars is now dead, the man who bought the land would be the new owner.
