Flying Lizard's Porsche at Mosport

« on: October 03, 2006, 04:47:53 am »

For those who haven't heard, the 2007 schedule was announced last weekend.

  Date              Event                                  TV Network
March 17     Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring      SPEED
March 31     St. Petersburg     with IRL                  SPEED
April 14       Long Beach  with Champ Car            SPEED
April 21       Houston       with Champ Car            CBS Sports
May 19       Salt Lake City                                CBS Sports
July 7         Lime Rock Park      with IRL              CBS Sports
July 21       Mid-Ohio              with IRL               CBS Sports
August 11  Road America    with Champ Car        NBC Sports
August 26  Mosport                                        SPEED
Sept 1       Detroit             with IRL                      SPEED
Oct 6         Road Atlanta/Petit Le Mans              SPEED
Oct 20       Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca            SPEED

I know a few people were happy to see the St Pete race on the caledar, but that close to Sebring may not help attendance.  And it's nice to see Mid-Ohio in the summer, when it might be a little warmer than this year was.

Any thoughts on next years' schedule?

I'm thinking of extending my stay in Florida after Sebring and doing St. Pete as well!

It looks like I will probably make it to Sebring, Mid-O, Detroit and Petit.  Maybe Mosport and Road America

Unfair. Unbalanced. Unmedicated.

Sebring (definately); maybe Lime Rock Park for the 4th of July weekend.  I'd love to make Petit, but with children at home still in school, it'd be hard to justify the wife and I taking off for a week and a half.   cry  In a couple years, when they're gone, that will probably become a regular...  afro

Yeah, I did.  I sent you a PM.  I didn't pick yours up until I got back though.  I had a blast.  I camped over in turn 10a.  There are now 3 races a year that I will not miss.  (Sebring, Mid-O and Petit.

You would love it there.  It is a lot more laid back than Sebring.  The group I was hanging out with was probably the loudest in the area, and we were just sitting around talking and watching F-1 at 3:30 in the morning.

Adam, I was over at Turn 3 with some of Sebring's Turn 10 crew.  It was a good time as well, and I'll be back for next year.

Bill, did I meet you?  I stopped by the Turn 10 crew a few times.  I was camped coincidentally near Adam.

Did Dodge Swinger make it?  I was looking for an Italian flag all weekend.

You've only got to spend 5 minutes on sebringfans.com to realize that, while many of them may be knowledgeable fans, this race is mostly a drinking binge with some noisy cars in the background.
The focus (on that site) on alcohol consumption is really kind of depressing. I'm kind of amazed (and disappointed) that track management doesn't do anything to try and go a bit more upmarket.
If I wanted to hang with drunken louts I'd go to a British premier league game.

Odd I didn't see you bill.  I was over there a couple of times.  Would have loved to see you.  I ended up camping next to some pretty cool people, so I pretty much ended up hanging out with them all weekend.

Don't think I met you Kings Suck. And no, I didn't have a Yuengling banner...

I camped at turn 4.

I did give Jan Magnussen's father some earplugs though.  He was holding his ears everytime a car went past.  Looked rather painful

I think I got a glimpse of you riding by on Friday.

We camped next to two guys from North Carolina (I think that's right) and started talking about Sebring.  This year was their first Sebring; we quickly figured out that they were camping a few feet away from us (the Pit Crew).

I would have made it over there to steal some beer from you, but by the time that I figured that you were done taking pictures, I had enough to drink that those hills looked way too big for me to be climbing.
