Thinking of flying up for the ALMS race at Road America in WI.
Has anyone been to this track? How is the viewing and how scenic is the track and the area around the track?
Any other opinions on this track or race held there?

Yes, I went two years ago.  It was beautiful, very scenic, great viewing, great track.  It was definitely worth driving from NY to WI!

My home is actually less than 10 minutes from RA.  It is a beatiful area to stay.  Be sure to go to Plymouth and try D'O' Malleys pizza on Mill street.  Best pizza ever.  I havent been to the track as of late, but I am planning on going to the Brian Redman Vintage race and possibly the ALMS event there.  I recommend sitting inside turn 5.  From this vantage point you can see the cars come out of the trees made the turn (which is alot like turn 10 at sebring) then race up the hill under the bridge.  You also can see turn 17(?) the last turn before they hit the home stretch.  Im rambling on right now, but I would highly recommend it.  And you have to get a fresh Johnsonville brat.

I got a Johnsonville from the Big Grill at Sebring.  I've heard that Guinness tastes better the closer you get to the brewery.  Is that the same for brats?

You've only got to spend 5 minutes on sebringfans.com to realize that, while many of them may be knowledgeable fans, this race is mostly a drinking binge with some noisy cars in the background.
The focus (on that site) on alcohol consumption is really kind of depressing. I'm kind of amazed (and disappointed) that track management doesn't do anything to try and go a bit more upmarket.
If I wanted to hang with drunken louts I'd go to a British premier league game.

I believe that is true.  To truly enjoy a brat you must buy them uncooked.  Then boil them in beer (the more flavorful, the better) until the brat skin turns white, plus about 5 minutes more.  Then put on a charcoal grill until brown.  I prefer brats on a nice hoagie bun, but plain bread or hamburger buns work just fine.  Be sure to add some sauerkraut and mustard.

Interesting tidbit,  there is a little unicorporated town about 10 miles from Road America called Johnsonville, which is where the brats and other meat products are made.  If you have time, I recommend going to Laacks Hall in Johnsonville for some really nice people.

Thanks for all your advise on Road America. Sounds like one of the better ones on the ALMS circuit..........

If you  fly into Wisconsin, you probably will be coming into Milwaukee.  If not it is your best bet to fly in to milwaukee.  A quick hint on getting to the track from milwaukee is to take I-43 to highway 57 north.  Take 57 north to County J turn west onto J.  It will cut about 1/2 hour off your drive.  In summary take 57 north instead of I43 to 23.
