I have a hard card this year so am all secured (I think) for my ownself.  However, the photographer I share with another website has been having great difficulty getting access to the media centre.  Is this because of the demand from international media due to the premiere of the Audi R10?  I have not written on her behalf yet but said that I would if it would help her.  She's been credentialed for many years and is what you'd call a "talented amateur".

Could someone give me some guidance on how to proceed?

Everyone is having problems. This year the ALMS is in charge of credentials instead of it being track-by-track.

Yes this year thre is a HUGE demand from the international press. They get priority from the ALMS compared to amatures. I hear tthre is a huge draw from euopean TV.

I have a meeting tonight on this subject. i will let you know more later. I assume she already filled out the application. It might take your extra letter for consideration.

If she doesn't get in for one reason or another, and I do...I'd be happy to help.

I emailed Ken my application a week or so ago and I haven't heard any kind of reply...they're supposed to begin notifications on Tuesday.

JP, let me know if you hear anything new.

Yes, she has applied (her name is Lisa Salazar).

And I would be very grateful for help with photos, KTJ, if she doesn't get approved.  I've got about 2/3 of my interviews scheduled and I want to be sure I give them good value; I have a really good photographer for Petit and for Portland and Laguna Seca, but so far those are the only ones I have locked in.  And I'd love to hire someone else to help write, but good journalists are even harder to find than good photographers -- that have not already been snapped up by someone else!

The word is that the vests are extremely tight this year. SIR is questioning if ALMS has enough vests for the amount of requests this year.

Years past, as long as you get the 7 or 8 ticket sometimes people return vests before saturday or they come up with extras. Just make sure you get the right ticket and then deal with the vest at the meeting.
