I think it was 3 years ago when at about 8pm on Friday night the wind blew at about 30mph and it rained sideways....
My buddy and I were outside the tent in shorts and t-shirts holding the tent up for about 30 minutes without raingear on since the storm came up so fast.
The temperature dropped about 10-15 degrees, we were shivering but saved the tent..........What bullshit that was

I vote no on the rain for this year.............

That year I made a canopy out of 1-1/2" PVC and a tarp.  Spent a good bit of time setting it up, then cooked dinner.  Storm hit and it started to lay down.  Some kid from another camp ran over and helped hold it up.  I figured it was fruitless, so I asked him to hold on long enough to get my lantern off it, then we let it drop and I jumped in the front seat of my pickup.  I remember for the next half hour I looked at another poor dude holding on to a pop-up canopy.  I cranked the stereo and started pounding Guinness cans.  The infield became a lake and when I tossed a can it would shoot across the pond like a sailboat.

You've only got to spend 5 minutes on sebringfans.com to realize that, while many of them may be knowledgeable fans, this race is mostly a drinking binge with some noisy cars in the background.
The focus (on that site) on alcohol consumption is really kind of depressing. I'm kind of amazed (and disappointed) that track management doesn't do anything to try and go a bit more upmarket.
If I wanted to hang with drunken louts I'd go to a British premier league game.

You Panzys. I was out wearing shorts, a tshirt, and no shoes, standing in a muddy puddle holding a galvanized steel canopy in the lightning storm asking for more.

I'm not sure if you're going to the same sebring as me...but the only girls i want to see in bikinis are generally the ones in the bikini contest...most of the rest of them arent girls i'd write home to mom about.

One of the guys in my crew got on the viewing berm leading to Turn 10 with a shower cap, bathing suit, soap and scrub brush with all that lightening and shit flying. He should have been on SPEEDNEWS.

Last year, my friends and I had 2 tents setup. One was nicely covered and had no rain. The second tent turned into a large pond.....2 years before last (so three years ago) with that nasty nasty storm on that Friday the rain ruined everything of ours! I was with 3 other friends and the 4 of us ended up sleeping in a Tahoe for Friday and Saturday night lol! THe only thing I don't like about the rain is the whole sleeping thing! I'll be praying to the Aztec Sun God Huitzilopochtli for Sun all 4 days this year! We are prepared this year this year, I bought a barn style canopy tent. If it doesn't rain at least we'll stay cool as hell during the day!

That big storm was a bitch. It hit us, stalled out, and backed up over us. We stood out there the whole time hanging on to our canopies. Fortunantly, the next day was beautiful, and we had another good story to tell.

In that big rainstorm everything in my tent got soaked and I ended up having to spend all day Sunday at a motel doing laundry so I'd have something to wear home (and not a suitcase full of moldy clothes for the TSA to paw through).  In the one last year I was lucky as (1) I have a tent that doesn't leak and (2) some corner workers' wives were at the campsite when the storm hit and covered up our tents with plastic tarps.

No rain, hah!  Last year I got rained on at Mosport (Victoria Day), rained on at Le Mans, and rained on at Sebring.  As long as it's not cold, I no longer mind.

That reminds me, I have to get more plastic leaf bags for my survival kit.
