You've only got to spend 5 minutes on sebringfans.com to realize that, while many of them may be knowledgeable fans, this race is mostly a drinking binge with some noisy cars in the background.
The focus (on that site) on alcohol consumption is really kind of depressing. I'm kind of amazed (and disappointed) that track management doesn't do anything to try and go a bit more upmarket.
If I wanted to hang with drunken louts I'd go to a British premier league game.

 I have read this entire thread, and I have a few questions;

Do you stock up ahead of time or do you get things at Sebring before you get to the track?

what stores do you generally hit?

if you cannot find what you want at chain stores are there local stores you rely on?

Just some questions in preparation for an article I am writing. Thanks in advance

trackside,

The 'Looney Tunes' stock up before arrival.  We have our menu for the weekend, I do the shopping at the Commissary at McDill AFB in Tampa and then bring everything when I drive down with bro-ken-flush.  The one thing I don't buy for everyone is beverages - some drink wine, some drink different types of beer, others drink liquor.  So we're on our own for drinks, but the food is split for everyone.

We do make the occasional run into town, Wal-Mart being the most common destination.  I have hit the Ace Hardware, though, on several occasions.

So guys I just wanted to say thank you for all your advice last year on what to expect since it was my first time at Sebring. It was beyond the wildest thing I have ever seen and I am more then pumped for this year. Last year it was just me and my dad and just from talking to people about it we have convinced three more people to come with us!

I camped in a tent last year and all though it wasn't horrible I made a promise to myself that this year I would be sleeping in a lovely RV.

So seeing how this is a camping advice thread I was wondering if anyone had any tips or tricks when it comes to bringing an RV?

Thanks!!

Do you need general tips like take Military showers, piss elsewhere whenever possible and limit paper in the toilet. Or tips like get there as early as possible for a better spot. And, if the track is "hot" you will be held off to the side as RV's are not allowed into Green Park on the drive-over bridge. Or tips like how to find a decent one at a decent price, that would be GetRV.com Anything else?  Beer

Haha she is good   Smiley

The showers and pissing I think I have a solid understanding of and we have acquired and RV through a friend since last years race so I'm pretty set on that to.
So I guess all thats left to ask is what kind of spot selection will I be looking at if I pull in on Thursday evening say like 5 or 6? Last year I got there Friday mid afternoon and we found a great spot to set up our tent camp but I wasn't paying attention to see how many spots large enough for an RV were still open.

Thanks for any info!

Don't drive the RV through sugar sand.  Someone does that every year idiot2  It used to be entertaining, but then we started to get tired of all the dust they kick up before they realize they're stuck.

We stock up before coming to the track but that's because we live in South Florida.  My FL friends that do that still have used the local auto supply stores, package stores and larger chain stores for forgotten items.  I could be wrong but I think the folks that travel from farther away do more shopping in Sebring.  I have friends that come down from KY and they shop at a local grocery store before coming to the track every year.
