Well, its hurricane season again. I'm watching Hurricane Dennis run up towards the panhandle.
Things that scares me more than getting my home blown away here in Ft Lauderdale is what happens if Sebring is destroyed and they can't hold the 2006 race?
I'm really frightened regarding this. How many of you would stop just sort of suicide if they cancelled the 2006 race.

Relax there chicken little. Must someone remind you that Sebring is a) in the middle of nowhere, a good 100 miles from the west coast, and b) flat.

A category 8 hurricane wouldnt blow the main drive over bridge down...and the walk overs could be secured as such that it's not much more than a big skeleton. The tower is a brick structure...with some shutters it'd be fine.

The show will go on. See you in March.

Hell, the last hurricanes screwed up SIR pretty good, but everything was mostly back to normal by the race.

Besides, it would be like thhe 70's year without the race..... 100k people would still show for the party. I know I would.

Whhat I am scared about is CART wants to run on Sunday. Yes they are in talks again Tongue That means changing the track layout and adding 12ft fences to keep the break-away cars from hitting us.

Sack, that would suck to have 12' fences in front of us on turn 1...i swear they seem to get higher every year...or maybe i'm getting cheaper with smaller RV's...

That is not the bad news..... they have to create a runoff in turn 1 in case the cars do not break. They would have to reconfig turn 1 completely. Along with thhe hairpin

Oh God............The guard rail is so high now in many places all you see is the cars roof or the top of the drivers crash helmet.
You have to imagine they are driving a car under them.......Rick

Gee, my husband would like to see CART there (he's been to Sebring for CART testing before) but it is NOT worth sacrificing being able to lean on the fence.  I've spent too many hours in too many years leaning on that fence and would miss it beyond belief.  It has always been a great place to talk to people and explain things to the rookies, besides seeing the cars close and clear.  It would change the whole spirit of Sebring which is already changing year by year as it is.  I need to keep as many of the old traditions as possible.

See ya at another track CART.....Don't keep us safe, keep us happy!
