Remember when, the IMSA series was kicked off at Daytona for The 24?

I just can't get into The  Daytona Prototype cars,... I get the feeling I'm watching an IROC Race or something.

It's a shame we can't see the Sebring Cars at  Watkins Glen , Leguna Seca, and Daytona. Those tracks deserve the better, faster cars.

I don't really get into the DP either. to me is is NASCAR's version of the sports car.

I get more enjoyment watching the GT cars, if i watch the race

I didnt go to Daytona this year for just that reason. I went the last three to give it a chance, but actually left early last year...something i've never done before. I quite frankly think the DP formula is rediculous through and through...is it really a prototype if they're all the same with stylized lights to fit each car ala nascar? not really.

I hope some day we'll be able to return to the gold ol days of true prototypes.

Very Very true.....I do watch the races just because it is sports car racing, it is very Nascar to me and my dad.  I stopped going to the Daytona 24 hours 2 years ago because I can just see that series becoming exactly like Nascar.  At least a few years ago the GARRA actually ran true prototypes and GT cars and teams could run in both series.  It'd be nice in Don Panoz could buy out Mike Helton's NASCAR Road Racing Series.

The two big things are sponsers and tv coverage.ALMS is going to be fighting the NASCAR machine for market share.Iam glad to see a lot network coverage for ALMS other then Speed Channel, and it doesnt seem like there's as much crossover sponsership as there was.I think with new rules the panoz gt would win class in the Rolex  Smiley

Huh? The coverage on non-speed channel stations really f-ing sucks. They dont even run the broadcast for the entire length of the race.

I think he was talking about other races in the series besides Sebring. They usually show the little sprints.

I know. The major networks take the sprints and compress them into a 2hr window which is further broken up by 23909575609275 of the same shitty commercials. The beginning of the race is started on a tape delay and throughout they skip little bits to try to get it up to the live ending...it makes for a horrible broadcast in my opinion...I usually opt to listen to it on radioweb and watch the live timing and scoring instead.

I agree I hate that compressed crap, but it does expose the series to new people witch means new sponsers and makes it less depended on the nascar( I mean Speed Channel)
