Hi
I'm LeeE, first post, just joined. I've been attending the 12 Hours of Sebring annually since 1977. I went the first time on the recommendation of a friend, and just keep on going. I usually go to the spring HSR races and the Fall Festivals too, if I can. I've been to most sportscar endurance tracks in the eastern US (and Mosport), but Sebring is far and away the best.
I noticed that for the 2012 race they will have an official "Sebring Vehicle" event.
We used to do this in the early '80's; we'd hand out flyers that I made to Sebring cars and ask that they meet on the Midway for a parade, and then give a 6-pack to the popular choice. Great fun. We did this for a few years.
I still have a few of the flyers, and I am attaching (hopefully) a scan of a flyer, my ticket from 1982, and a photo of my friend Rick Clarke from St. Pete conducting the parade. Somewhere, if I can find it, I also have a photo of the SS. Saltpetersburg, a Plymouth station wagon converted to a boat-car Sebring Vehicle by Rick and a bunch of other St. Petersburgers.
It'll be interesting to see what the new improved "official" Sebring Vehicle event is like.
I have my tickets, and I'm waiting impatiently for the race. See you Thursday night.
LeeE
If the attachments work, the second is a shot I took of the Chicane straight before the change to Turn 10.

I too would like to see some of those photos of the paddock car parades. On their website, LaBomba Racing has a great collection of the cars that cruised thre raceway  including the famous Runaground - which I understand sadly rotted out an was dismantled.
