I just received a rather sad e mail from Pidge in Miami. Posted below.

Some of you who have been to Sebring might remember that thanks to all of you ......... I was voted as the fan of the year back in 2006....along with a fellow I had known for years but had lost track of. In fact the guy was instrumental in my son, Dave and I going to Sebring for our first race.

Well, John Bullock died last month at the age of 75.

For those of you who don't recall John, he came to Sebring with his English lady of many years, Jerrie, and promptly fell asleep with his mouth open.

I met John 30 or more years ago as a business associate but lost track of him after a while. Then unexpectantly he showed up as the other fan of the year along with me. Imagine after 30 years to run into him in this way.

Talking to his Lady, Jerrie, I found out that John's father had been a Major in the U.S. Marine Corps, as was John himself, which I knew, and his oldest son, now a pilot for American Airlines, was a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and flew jets as a Naval Officer. Nice family lines I think!

Gonna miss the old booger !!!!!!!!!!!

I did not know John.  I have not yet met Pidge.
But from those of us who respect and love auto racing and in particular Sebring,
and its history, our condolences and sympathy to him and his family, related and not.
A vast knowledge and undoubtedly wonderful man, stilled.
Here's to you John.
