As this was written about 3 weeks ago it is looking like the ILMC (which is turning into the WEC next year) is going to be coming to Sebring and Petit in 2012. This is great news. But with the governing bodies in play who knows what is going to happen. I have heard lots of speculation on the future of the ALMS and what will happen to it over say the next 5 years. I hope it doesn't die.

American Le Mans Series boss Scott Atherton said he believes that both the 12 Hours of Sebring and Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta are likely to be on the calendar for the revived FIA World Endurance Championship in 2012.
Sebring and Petit Le Mans are part of this year's Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, which the FIA has granted world-championship status for 2012. One of those races had appeared originally to not be on the WEC schedule so that the WEC could visit a South American venue, but Atherton said that talks between the ALMS and the Automobile Club de l'Ouest--the WEC organizer--should culminate in two WEC races in the United States next season.
"I would certainly say that we are expecting Sebring to be part of the WEC, and I would expect Petit Le Mans to be part of it, too," Atherton told Autoweek.
"South America ultimately would make sense, but for 2012, the clock is ticking. I believe the ACO enjoys our two established and prestigious events being part of the championship."
The ACO expects to announce its seven-race calendar in September. It will consist the 24 Hours of Le Mans, two more races in Europe, the two North American races and two in Asia
