The idiots at ALMS signed a 3-year contract with ESPN3.com as the only live feed of the Sebring 12 hrs and all other ALMS races. Speed TV was thrown out with the trash.
I joined ESPN3.com so I could use a laptop and hopefully a Donny Panoz supplied wifi system at the track. No such luck. ESPN3.com states they are not available on any wireless networks.
Do any of you computer geniuses know how to connect so we can have TV broadcast of the race at our turn 3 space?
I'm trying to make a banner showing my displeasure with these idiots at ALMS.

It is true that ALMS coverage is for SHIT! However (I'm a little ashamed to say) but if you have rabbit ears TV you're in luck! Yep the old fashioned kind that do not need cable to work. They will be sending out short signal at the track for antenna to pick up! Believe it or NOT! If you're on FB go to Sebring Int'l raceway's FB site they have the channel.

I usualy stand by the fence and watch it...Call me old fashioned. But from past experience if you get there early enough (or late depending on your prefence) You may be able to find someone who will hook you up for a nominal fee (ooh lets say small farm animals and foreigen currency accepted). Glad I could help.

Speed TV was thrown out with the trash.

Stop and think about it for a sec.  Who owns speed?  Fox.  Who broadcasts half the NA$CRAP races?  Fox.

What is ALMS main competitor in the US for multi-class sports-car racing?  Grand Am.

Who owns Grand Am?  NA$CRAP.

So, my question is, was Speed 'thrown out' with the trash?  Or were they pressured by their parent company to drop ALMS coverage to suck up to NA$CRAP so that Fox could keep their cash cow.

Maybe I'm a conspiracy theorist, but that looks a little too convenient to me.

Speed Tv used to be fairly decent. back in the day.

Until they were bought by Fox.  Now, it's crap.

Was talking to a Speed announcer last year at Lime Rock, he said the network made more money in advertiser dollars for a 30 minute NA$CRAP talk show than a one hour race broadcast.

Back to the original question, here's what you'll need to do:

When you get to espn3.com, click on Watch Now.  It may tell you that your provider doesn't carry it (meaning that Sebring's provider doesn't), but it will give you a list of providers.  Scroll down and find the company you get your home internet from.  Then, it should take you to a page where you can log in with your home e-mail & password, and if that's accepted, it'll throw you back to espn3 where you should have access.

I only know for sure that this works with comcast, but I think it should be similar with a lot of providers.  Sorry for the vague instructions, but since I'm not away from home that login system isn't coming up.

BTW, you still may not get great results streaming it over WiFi.  Don't forget it'll be broadcast at the track on old-fashioned analog tv Channel 17.

Have you tried it to make sure?  I'm in the same arrangement, but at least from home I can get on ESPN3 even though that may be an error on their part.  I can't get speed2, though, that restriction is working, sadly.

Also, I have family in comcast country.  They get 7 e-mails per account or something...and one of them happens to be mine.  Works like a charm.

It was fine.  But we weren't streaming live feed.

Should be more than adequate though. If they're broadcasting live from the track and streaming it online, then they'll make sure the people at the track can get access.

Will anyone on here that will be at the track have a TV to pick up the live race coverage and more importantly, will they have the facility to record the race onto a hard disc recorder or DVD recorder, as i really would love the watch the entire race coverage on my TV when I get home after the race to see what i missed.

If so i am more than happy to pay for DVD costs and postage after the race or can even bring a load of blank DVD's with me.
