Bring lots. of. beer.  As someone else said, figure your daily intake X the number of days you'll be there X 2.

In my case 4 days X 12 per day = 48, now X 2 = 96.  Ninety six beers should do it.   Grin

There is a real good beer store at 27 and 98 a few miles from the track. I usually get some extra supplies before I get there. It sucks to leave when it can be avoided.

I've always found that a case of beer a day per person ratio PLUS an ass-load of Margarita and Scotch and Vodka outa get ya thru the week. Better to bring some home than be trapped (car trapped) and run out!  Shocked

Tips/Tricks I've learned for the 12 Hours.

1. Sunscreen, lots of it, and don't forget the top of your ears!
2. Put the sunscreen in the cooler. Ice cold cream sunscreen can be refreshing!
3. Ice management. Love your ice, baby your ice, always have plenty of ice. Maintaining a good "slurry" is key.
4. Beer management. Ok, you've figured out how much beer you need. Double it! Trust me on this one.
5. Be friendly. Everybody is having a good time, you should be too.

Good advice...
I quote a dear friend of mine-
If you forget your raincoat, it will rain alot!
If you forget a jacket, it will be cold, very cold.
If you forget your sunscreen it will be hot and sunny.
If you forget your beer, you are shit out of luck.

solid advice.

Running out of beer is so catastrophic as to be an untenable option. It cannot be allowed to happen. As a result, the 4 beer drinkers in our gang have 360 cans of Guinness to keep our necks lubricated - we arrive on Thursday morning, so should be OK on 30 cans each, per day.
We once went to the Indy 500, with the premise of buying our beer on the way - we were almost at the Speedway before it dawned on us that you can't buy alcohol in Indiana on Sunday. I had 2 liters of Beefeater Gin (bought on the plane, over from UK) - and one of our group forked over something like $50 for a case of Busch lite from a profiteering college kid. It was utterly miserable - and we vowed that we would never put ourselves in that predicament again. We also bring our own side-by-side fridge/freezer, so the bother of hunting down ice is now also a thing of the past.
Setting up in back of Turn 10 tomorrow, before picking-up UK contingent from Orlando International - then back to the track for the duration on Thursday morning.
Safe travels everyone - see ya there!

The cows agree and concur with all of these necessities.  Some of us are locals, and appreciate the economic impact, some of us are not and appreciate the amount of beers brought, especially those to share.  This cow brings two cases of "give-aways" in case of a thirsty friend.

Also, the cows appreciate all the extra beer brought by others because we can only carry so many with us.  If you are ever thirsty, find the holy Cow, he has the "alms"  Which is freakin funny.

My Dad's famous euphemism:  "It's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it."

I ended up taking a 24 pack of Yuengling, a 12 pack of Natty Ice, a 12 pack of various micro-brews for a total of 48 and that seemed to be plenty and I probably shared/gave away near half of that.  Then again, between lemon drops at McGruffs, Apple Pie shooters at F-Troop, Miller Lites at Stumble Inn and a few at Turn 10....  Beer

I ended up watching more racing and less drinking than I planned.   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
