I have a couple of questions about cheap 4 day tickets purchased via motorsport departments of the Florida University's.

Are these tickets the same 4 day tickets that are on general sale or are they marked up differently as student tickets. If that is the case, does anyone check if you are a student or not at the main gates on the way into Sebring ?

Does anyone have any info on this or any previous experience of these cheap student tickets ?

Any info appreciated.

Thanks.

Yes they are the same as the 4 day tickets but you have to have a student ID to get them and go to the will call booth to get them.

They have never checked my UF ID at the gate when using the 4-Day Student Tickets.   They are the same 4-day superpass, with a small yellow sticker over them that states "student" and the student ticket price.

From my experience, they only check an ID at the time of purchase (if you are buying the student ticket at the track office )

Thats good, although I don't know if they will say anything when we roll up with them, one of us 37, another 50 and another 70 plus years old ! Maybe not an issue if you are young but could be interesting for us. LOL

It looks still a cheaper date than what the French are charging !!!   Spank  Machine Gun

Let me see rooms are booked, grandstand tickets are done. Now we need general admission tickets, parking permit. And to find the way from London to Le Mans by using the Eurotunnel at least one way. Now waiting for Air fares to drop and find a cheap rental car that gets great gas mileage that can keep up on the speed limits:smitten:

Is there a weekly mileage  limit to rental cars in the UK it looks like we will be 9 to 10 days !!!

Can't wait for June this year   Cheersmitten

no, rental cars are usually unlimited mileage here I think. Would suggest a diesel rental car if possible, some of the newer ones will do anywhere between 50 - 70 mpg on a motorway run.

Any idea when you plan to arrive in the UK and leave and how much time do you want to spend in London? I only live an hour outside so may be able to help! I am also about 40 minutes from Windsor and Salisbury, 30 minutes from Winchester and about 1hr 30 mins from Bath.

Entrance tickets are available at the gate at face value, no need to buy them from an agancy.

Where did you get your grandstand ticket from. Agencies sometimes include a General Admission ticket with Grandstand tickets.

Le Mans is different to Sebring in that a parking permit is just that, a space in a parking lot. If you intend to camp at the circuit you'll need a camping pass. I can help you out of needed!

I also have spare tents, airbeds, sleeping bags etc if that would help!

Eurotunnel is reasonably easy. Have a look in the Club Arnage Le Mans Guide! It's full of useful info from people with years of experience! http://www.clubarnage.com/caguide/

One thing to brace yourself for though is Hire Car costs. They are pretty steep over here compared to the US!

JP,

Thank you for the offer of camping gear. We felt since this is a once in a life trip, we didn't want to try camping.  coolsmiley coolsmiley
Our tickets are though ACO so no general admission are included. We also need to get parking spot, somewhere close to the camping area.
We want to be part of the whole experience  Beer Drinker  BeerDrinker

Our current plans are to fly out of Orlando Sunday June 5 and spend Monday and Tues in London. Then drive to Le Mans though the Euro-tunnel on Wednesday. We have a room booked in Angers, FR. (I hope Angers isn't a angry place). For Thur-Sunday night.  It about 45 mins from the track and was cheap!!! Then we plan on driving back to London on Monday. Then fly back to Orlando on Tues. or Wednesday. Not sure where we are staying in the London area yet !!

Bear in mind that you could do all of this without a car if you choose to. Eurostar from London to Lille and then TGV to Angers, St Laud.
Angers to Le Mans is one stop (20 mins) on Le Train Grande Vitesse.
I am very familiar with Angers - my parents live about 30 minutes from the town. It is easy to navigate, has an impressive fortress chateau and lots and lots of speed cameras. Driving from Angers to the circuit takes about 45 minutes - but perhaps 2 hours on race day (not nearly as much traffic approaching Le Mans from the south).
I've lost count of the number of times that I've done this, so shout-up if you need anything.
Needless to say, a bunch of us who do Sebring and 24Hrs will be at Turn 10 Annexe - look for an RV with a temporary Irish Bar adjacent, lots of empty Guinness cans and a silver 997 Turbo - that's us - all but one in our party will be at Le Mans as well (and have been doing so for between 20 and 30 years, so we know the drill). Come and have a beer with us and we'll give you the skinny.
Take Mark up on his offer of UK tour guide too - they're a friendly bunch who'll look after you properly.
