This spammer thing is pissing me off. I am looking at other forum/cms options...... Do you think we keep all this old data or start from scratch?

What else would you like to see from SF.com?

Would you be interested in changing over to ALMSfans.com? Should we get bigger or smaller?

please give me some ideas and feedback. this is all for you Smiley smitten

There are some good stories in the old data.  In a perfect world I'd tell you to keep it, but that's probably a huge headache to do if you change the platform.

Sebring is the biggest North American endurance race, so I'd keep it a focus (imao).  The sub-forums for other races were good for hooking up with other Sebringfans around the country, but didn't really take on a life-of-their-own to support a change to ALMSfans.com.  And Sebring has always been Sebring, but the series has changed names over the years; if you had built an IMSAfans.com in the '80s you would have had to change the name.

I don't know how hard it is to set up but maybe a track-Wiki could be used for members to edit to add race-specific tips (track layout, favorite viewing spots, nearby liquor stores, what not to do, what you can get away with, track history, etc...)

Forums and wiki pages write themselves, a real website with editorial content typically peters out as life gets in the way (unless it's a successful commercial site and writers get paid).

Whatever you do keep it irreverent and uncensored.  There are plenty of tightly-moderated racing sites out there.

Thanks for all your work over the years!

You've only got to spend 5 minutes on sebringfans.com to realize that, while many of them may be knowledgeable fans, this race is mostly a drinking binge with some noisy cars in the background.
The focus (on that site) on alcohol consumption is really kind of depressing. I'm kind of amazed (and disappointed) that track management doesn't do anything to try and go a bit more upmarket.
If I wanted to hang with drunken louts I'd go to a British premier league game.

I spoke to my host and probably by next week I am going to have a another domain up and running with this data. I am going to be installing the new version of this forum to try. If I do not like it I will be changing software.

If you would like to help me, and check out the features send me a PM and I will send you login info when it is set up

I would definitely agree with KS. I like the focus being on Sebring, because after all, that is the event that brought us all here. And just like KS, I enjoy coming to to SF.com so I let out my juvenile side. It's nice knowing that I don't have to worry about offending [too many] people  Beer

I have tikiwiki installed on another domain. If anyone has experience with such a system and would like to test drive it with me, please let me know.

I'm happy with what we've got. That being said, I'm about as internet illiterate as they get.....no facebook, no wiki (whatever the hell that is), no twitter, lame at texting. Get along fine

Sorry, no help from me.  I'm busy trying to get through the work week and pack for the Bear Creek Music festival on the Suwanee River this weekend.  I'm as excited about this as we all are around the middle of March.

PM will be sent shortly ...

Regarding the above, I'd like to keep the data for historical perspective, even if it's read only (?) and we can only add new.  The free-flowing, devil-may-care attitude about the place is what keeps it unique ... just like Sebring is unique.  As KS said, "... keep it irreverent and uncensored."  I can't see us merging under another site or combining with a larger league oriented anything.

My two cents...

And, as said above, we all certainly appreciate all the time and effort you put into this, Sack!
