I can't Limit my MADNESS to March!

« on: April 02, 2010, 01:14:07 am »

Many of you know the "Walk of Legends" is a fine,  permanent part of Sebring History. I like to think Norm is too. I'd like to have a Brick made in his Honor to say

No worries I've already sent in for the paver. A nice white one. 4x8. I wish it could be out front, like mine, but it seems they have a system based on how many they get and when.

My Sister and I took some time out and visited the Gallery of Legends. I did not realize how moving it would be, it was almost like walking on sacred ground. Looking back I was apprehensive about walking on the bricks. We did read each and every one of them, then we scooted inside and checked out all the V Hicles. Unfortunately they were not quite prepared for the public at the time, it was still early on Thursday and there was a strong odor of gas in the building (and no, it was not me). On the way back to our site we were pleasantly surprised over by Fangio Terrace. We ran into Amazing Randy, Lee and Jerri, and a gaggle of Turn Ten folk.
 New memories for the archives.

I'd like to say Thanks to Harry Baker for the latest contribution toward Norm's Paver.
Thanks also to Science Tom, Chris Clark and Lee Self for contributions. I hope it's in for Sebring 12hr.
Excess contribution money will be donated to Motorsport Ministries in Norm's name.

It's not so much what you don't know that's gonna hurt you, but rather what you already know that just ain't so.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7V9MmJ1qo4   - A little video tribute to Norm Koury that I was able to piece together with the only footage that I have of him, riding on the back of La Bomba in 2009 with the Sebring Cows and Turn 10 Gorillas on board. Norm always had a way of making you feel special when you hung with him, a fun loving cat with a big heart. One of the guys who we truly miss.

Ok I finally found this old thread. I was sadened to hear from Bill Kent the other day that he looked for Norm's brick at the track when he went for Winter Test and it wasn't there. So the other day I called the track to find out why it's STILL not down. I was billed in June 2010! Jan in Sebring Admin assured me Norm's brick was to be placed this week. Well I hope so! Again Thanks to all who helped contribute for the paver and I sure hope to see it in for this yrs race. Cheers Sandy Beer

Just made me think of this song.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dO-YHPiMWf4

THICK AS A BRICK

Really don't mind if you sit this one out.

My words but a whisper -- your deafness a SHOUT.
I may make you feel but I can't make you think.
Your sperm's in the gutter -- your love's in the sink.
So you ride yourselves over the fields and
you make all your animal deals and
your wise men don't know how it feels to be thick as a brick.
And the sand-castle virtues are all swept away in
the tidal destruction
the moral melee.
The elastic retreat rings the close of play as the last wave uncovers
the newfangled way.
But your new shoes are worn at the heels and
your suntan does rapidly peel and
your wise men don't know how it feels to be thick as a brick.

And the love that I feel is so far away:
I'm a bad dream that I just had today -- and you
shake your head and
say it's a shame.

Spin me back down the years and the days of my youth.
Draw the lace and black curtains and shut out the whole truth.
Spin me down the long ages: let them sing the song.

See there!  A son is born -- and we pronounce him fit to fight.
There are black-heads on his shoulders, and he pees himself in the night.
We'll
make a man of him
put him to trade
teach him
to play Monopoly and
to sing in the rain.
