Stop the NASCARization of road racing!

« on: March 11, 2010, 05:27:27 pm »

My buddy and I will not be able to make it to the track until late Wednesday night.  Approximately around midnight or 1am.  We were supposed to leave Atlanta Tuesday night and arrive very early Wednesday morning.  But he most likely will have to go to class on Wednesday from 1-2pm.   He lives in Chattanooga, TN and then has to drive to Atlanta to my house.  Which means we wont be able to leave Atlanta until around 4pm or so.  I am worried we wont be able to find a decent campsite by that time.  Is anybody willing to rope us off a spot next to them so we can have a campsite?  We have a red 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4.  We will have 2 tents and an EZ-up.  Preferably we want a decently quiet part of the track if possible.  If not, its okay.  I dont want my shit stolen either. HAHA.  We usually camp by the drive over bridge on the opposite side of Green Park near the turn 4-5 viewing mound. But those spots may be gone by the time we get there.  Anybody that is willing to try and help us out please post here and PM me your cell phone number so I can contact you.  Thanks a lot!

Yep, we're not getting there till mid-day Thursday either.

You've only got to spend 5 minutes on sebringfans.com to realize that, while many of them may be knowledgeable fans, this race is mostly a drinking binge with some noisy cars in the background.
The focus (on that site) on alcohol consumption is really kind of depressing. I'm kind of amazed (and disappointed) that track management doesn't do anything to try and go a bit more upmarket.
If I wanted to hang with drunken louts I'd go to a British premier league game.

Zach, I can save you a spot, we're not far from where you usually camp.  Pretty secure area and centrally located.  Do you still have my cell#?

I sent you a PM.

I'd be happy to welcome you to our spot, but I don't get there til mid-day Thursday, plus there's usually not any room for even my car by the time I get there. I usually have to say, "scuse me, comin' through. make a hole!" Then I just park the car and walk away. The damn midway has pushed us all right against the fence, and you can't even get in there by the time I get there. So don't take it personally--we'd love to have you come by for a  Beer  I just can't promise any camping space.

I will be there first thing Wednesday. I would be glad to help out. I camped last year south of turn 12 and north of the honeypots by the flag pole. Let me know I will shoot a PM.
