When talking with non-race fans, I describe Sebring as spring break for adults.

Actual Race Cars instead of Impala's, Ford Focus, and Camrays that turn right as well as left,  have to change gears, and have great accelleration.

Oh stop it you closet Jimmy Johnson fan.

Human bowling. F-Troop  crazy2

We were talking about that the other day....should bring that event back again!  I'll check to see if any of us still have the pins....anyone have 9 pins we can use?

You've only got to spend 5 minutes on sebringfans.com to realize that, while many of them may be knowledgeable fans, this race is mostly a drinking binge with some noisy cars in the background.
The focus (on that site) on alcohol consumption is really kind of depressing. I'm kind of amazed (and disappointed) that track management doesn't do anything to try and go a bit more upmarket.
If I wanted to hang with drunken louts I'd go to a British premier league game.

I think that was just to keep the pins up.  The aspect of diving onto a splintery sheet of plywood makes me cringe more than knocking over pins with my head.

BTW, I'm jealous that a stunt pulled by F-Troop 28 fucking years ago is still being talked about.  I don't think the Pit Crew or Turn 10 has done anything that good--at least not yet. evil

When I describe it to non-race fans, I call it the Mardi-Gras of Motorsports.  "It's like a carnival for your senses...the sights, the sounds, the smells...aahhh Sebring"  Has anyone else experienced sensory overload?  When I get home, I can still hear the cars in my head.  I'm not sure if it's a motorcycle in the distance, or the sound of the cars still echoing in there.
