Was it just my imagination, or was there a substantial increase in the number of police (both uniformed and plain clothed) last year? Everything seemed a bit more subdued than in the past (even Turn 10). I hope this isn't an effort on the part of the new female sheriff to make Sebring more "family friendly." I recently spoke with a person that was an assistant state attorney for Highlands County not too long ago. She said the rule used to be that so long as your actions weren't to the detriment of the people around you, you were pretty much free to do whatever you wanted inside the fence. Apparently that's not the rule anymore.

That hasn't been the rule for probably the last 10 years.

You've only got to spend 5 minutes on sebringfans.com to realize that, while many of them may be knowledgeable fans, this race is mostly a drinking binge with some noisy cars in the background. The focus (on that site) on alcohol consumption is really kind of depressing. I'm kind of amazed (and disappointed) that track management doesn't do anything to try and go a bit more upmarket. If I wanted to hang with drunken louts I'd go to a British premier league game. -the_stig, a ferrarichat.com douchebag

So true, You really have to mind your P's and Q's. No fires of anykind, no dope smoking (esp in vehicles). Think about it why would you be smoking a cig in there. They know what you're blazing up and they will bust you. And yes there are plain clothes as well as uniformed so be leary of the guys lurking around your camp that no one knows and who aren't drinking.......But yeah it's still a drunken free for all. Just NOTHING like it was 20 yrs ago. Or even 10 for that matter.

No shit! They took over F troops spot, Remember that big building buster tank type vehicle they were displaying about 3-4 years ago. They are totally harassing the fans but if that is what the DR. wants than you just have to be very careful.

That was the begining of the end, when they parked that big ol' command center trailer on F-Troop's real estate!

Ah yes....back in the day...70's. Green Park like the seventh level of Dante's Inferno. Passed out in the ditch. As long as you didn't hurt each other they'd leave you alone. Oh well

I was but a we little lad in the early '70s and don't remember much, but I have seen photos that substantiate the above comments.

I'm shaking my head right now just thinking about the dirt bikes in those days. For those that have only attended post ban--imagine a couple hundred drunk motorcyclists blasting through sand pits in the infield, 24 hours a day.
