Sadly, we all have to deal with the Rolex Ugly Car 24 Hours of Daytona and then the Redneck Big Crash Daytona 500 before we get the REAL Season started. SEBRING!!!!! PS. Stay away from Daytona - you'll get cooties!

PS. Stay away from Daytona - you'll get cooties! or a nasty "L" shaped scar... -Lee DIS security has finally been given a proper name, Speedway Security, or "SS" for short. matching black uniforms with subtle touches of red and the ocasional "totenkopf" on shoulder boards and peaked caps. should look smashing.

http://murphythebear.com/blog/index.php/2010/01/15/the-rolex-29/For fans, a new concept is the Daytona Speedway Security Department’s Gauntlet of Abuse©, in which every spectator will encounter three stimulating experiences when entering the track: First, it’s the “You Can’t Park Here” Greeting; next, the popular “You Can’t Use this Gate” argument, and finally; the “Let Me See Your Credential You Asshole” confrontation. But its all in good fun, and a unique way for fans to bond with the World Center of Abuse. Best of all, on the way out you will receive a 10% discount for NASCAR merchandise.
In the Fan Zone, look for the new exhibit paying tribute to the third generation of France children titled “Don’t You Know Who I am.” And the eye-opening “Why Le Mans Sucks” display will educate those who dare to even consider going to Sebring. And best of all, Scott Pruett plans on personally greeting every single spectator entering the track prior to the race...

You've only got to spend 5 minutes on sebringfans.com to realize that, while many of them may be knowledgeable fans, this race is mostly a drinking binge with some noisy cars in the background. The focus (on that site) on alcohol consumption is really kind of depressing. I'm kind of amazed (and disappointed) that track management doesn't do anything to try and go a bit more upmarket. If I wanted to hang with drunken louts I'd go to a British premier league game. -the_stig, a ferrarichat.com douchebag

I am coming over on Sat. have never been to Daytona 24 hour race. Can you ride around in the infield or do you have to park and walk around.

A few years ago, the cops at Daytona made Swillz and Big Tom put a charcoal grill WITH HOT COALS IN IT, in their car. "Race is over pal! Get the F-out of here or you're going to jail." Literally, it was not a half hour after the race was over, and the line was an hour long to get out anyway, so they figured they'd grill up the last couple of steaks. Johnny Law said Hell No. Good thing their car didn't explode. I think they dumped out the coals, but the grill was still red hot. Turdheads wouldn't even let them sit for a few minutes to let it cool down. It's like, "We got all the money we're getting out of you, now get the hell out of here. Ya'll come back next year, though, cuz this is how we treat dumb rednecks and they keep coming back."

That exact thing happened to me in 1987 (88?), the last time I set foot in DIS. We were cooking sausage and the prick cop made us stop immediately. We asked for time to finish them and he laughed "I guess you're going to get trichinosis." It then took us ONE FUCKING HOUR just to get out of the infield. I'm still open for ideas but I'm thinking about making a Daytona speedway pinata this year.
