Welcome to ChumpCar – North America’s home for $500 race cars and 24 hour endurance road racing. This series is for gear-heads; for people who love driving and driving fast. It’s for grassroots race teams and almost-race-ready cars. ChumpCar is a throw-back to the era when racing was fun and cheap… when Bondo beat carbon-fiber; when a crescent wrench was the most valuable tool in your box; when home-made engineering made everyone sit up and take notice; and when adding a little theme to your car didn’t get you laughed out of the pit. Those were good times… and they’re back.
So, do you think you’ve got what it takes, chump? If so, join us.

I have been searching for a car to gut for Lemons and didnt even know Chump existed. They have a bunch of events close by, South Carolina is the closest Lemons race. Read the rules on the Lemons site there hilarious, I'll have to read the Chump rules but consider me in. I really want to find an old BMW 318 or similar, you get good handling, better than average braking and a bullet proof straight 6. I found a few that were in the price range but was to lazy to go see them, I'm sure there must be others to be had..... Cheap

I guess we should have a chat at Petite about this venture, in the lemons deal you have to have a minimum of 4 drivers and a max of 6. I haven't downloaded the Chump rules yet but I would imagine they're similar. We need to come up with a good off the wall theme for the team and car, from what I can tell you wont get accepted without it............... I conjured up " Drippy Dog Racing" a team made up of guys with terminal STDs and its our last shot at hitting the track and racing. Use that nasty yellow spray insulation to create giant pussie sores that can drip that fake vampire blood for a truly disgusting effect the team dresses like giant condoms that we unfortunately didn't use years ago leading to our demise........... So theirs my idea as perv-ed out as it may be............ whatcha got? I need to find a car soon as you have to enter these things well in advance and keep in mind that Chump hasn't had their first event yet so they may or may not be an option as things get going for them.

I printed the rules to read them. Since I know everyone would want to drive.... we make a team, commit to split costs evenly.... then take the team out to a gokart track and the 6 fastest people are selected to drive. I was thinking of finding an american car.... what yo think of a old Impala with a Turn 10 on the door Where is that slug guy to drive for us? Think we can pull in ringers like Shane or Johnny? kidding

Just thought of another possible car 1989 to 1995 Thunderbird, V-8, rear wheel drive, traction control and maybe luck out and find an SC version for more go. I have a fresh 351 Cleveland Cobra Jet motor that dyno-ed at 450 hp plus sitting in the garage but its probably risky to use as these are claimer races..... For those not familiar with claimer races it means one of the other competitors can buy your car after the race for $500.00 in this case minus your safety and you have to sell it! equipment......No ringer drivers though to much fun to drive yourself.

A couple of the guys out at Bondurant are doing this deal next weekend, I'm seriously considering it for next May except I would get a waver for the Grand Touring division and that requires 5 point harness and I dont want to ruin the interior of my car. http://www.silverstateclassic.com/flatout.htm

I wonder what the rules are about selling selling your own car to the group. I have a 87 rx7 sitting in storage with a blown front rotor..... Sitting right next to a used motor. It has a bunch of aftermarket parts for it on it including a header and stainless exhaust. we could buy it for 500 and sell the "expensive" aftermarket parts for income to fuel the build I know everyone wants to drive. but we need a mechanic and a welder that is willing to donate time. these rules specify that if we have to pay for labor it takes away from the cost of the car. We need a vehicle that will last the 12 hours not something that has 300 hp. I am thinking the lighter the vehicle the easier the track will be on it.

The joy of this is when you sell the high dollar parts they come off the total cost of the car so if you sold 1k worth of parts we would have an extra 500 to spend on non-safety related items.............. RX-7 works great just hadn't seen any yet in the area that were cheap enough I did see a Miata but am not worth hacking off my legs to drive it, what condition is the used motor in? By the way I got a welder fab guy so that's not an issue just supply him with plenty of beer and he will weld. We should be able to find some info on RX-7 cages online that conform to both Chump and Lemons.
