That was my 12th Sebring.  You're not amazing, just a young 'un.

IIRC that 935 on the pole was John Paul; in the first hour he broke a rear axle coming into the hairpin, lost the wheel, and flipped over right in front of me.  And those skid marks in the video are probably his.

You've only got to spend 5 minutes on sebringfans.com to realize that, while many of them may be knowledgeable fans, this race is mostly a drinking binge with some noisy cars in the background.
The focus (on that site) on alcohol consumption is really kind of depressing. I'm kind of amazed (and disappointed) that track management doesn't do anything to try and go a bit more upmarket.
If I wanted to hang with drunken louts I'd go to a British premier league game.

LOVE the video. that was my 5th Sebring.

IIRC: the slow roll right before the hairpen was the #2 John Fitzpatrick 935-K3
still remember the sheriff telling me to get away. My dad was a doc on the corner for
the start, I was watching from the apex of the corner and trotted down to take pics.

That sounds better; at least it was a John.  That 00 was Danny Ongais, right?

'82, a great year.  Head bowling at F-Troop!
