I'm sure that the answer is "no" but I'll ask anyway. Is there any wireless internet access at the track? Not counting the media center...

You used to be able to walk down towards the hairpin and hijack the wireless from the Chateau Elan, but I think last year they secured that...

There is wi-fi in the SCCA and Racing school buildings near the main entrance. This is outside the track next to overflow parking - a ways to the right of the bridge over 17-17A. I don't recall them being secure and you could be ale to connect from the public areas

Thanks. Maybe I'll bring the long-range antenna.

You might also find a signal at the tower at start/finish.

I'm camped near the Midway (sorta behind Party Zone - see map) and I've picked up at least three Wi-Fi sigs (IMSA, Timing & Scoring, & SIR) while reviewing my pix on laptop, but never wanted to get connected. Cheers & beers!

Nah, not really So do the green martian men really have that much better wi-fi? Before anyone starts thinking that I'm running around hacking other people's networks - we have a trailer where I work that gets a really weak signal and the conduit that was run under the parking lot to it is obstructed somehow so no network cable could be run. Of course now someone at Sebring will go and secure whatever places have been mentioned!

Haha. No, that was honestly not what i was thinking. Just curiosity. It's kinda along the same vein as asking somebody who has a laser sight attached to a howitzer why it's necessary. As far as anything becoming secured, i think that is constantly a danger with that many people potentially trying to hijack it, especially considering the liabilty of the sick things people would look up using that access (probably unspeakable sites such as SebringFans.com). And if all else fails, you can always try to become fast friends with somebody who has an aircard

The trick setup is a little router that the aircard plugs in to. That way you can give access to your whole gang! Of course power is always a problem at places like race tracks.
