Stop the NASCARization of road racing!

First look at the new BP Mazda colour scheme in Florida

Dyson Racing has run its new Mazda engined Lola LMP2 at Sebring, complete with its new BP paint job. The car is similar in spec to the RML Lola Coupe but has some variations - note the 2008 spec rear wing.

It looks sweet ... really does ... but somehow, Dyson without the blue Thetford scheme?  That will take a bit of time to get used to...

Thanks for the pics!

Sure just like Le Mans regulations used to require luggage.

Most of the top teams still pack a small tool kit for the drivers at LeMans. A recovery kit of sorts.

Its part of the rules.  On track, only the driver is allowed to work on the car and only with tools and parts they brought with them.  Driver is only one even allowed to touch the car except for marshalls when moving it to a safe location.  Driver must also stay within 25 feet of the car.  Violation results in instant DQ

This happened to Scott Sharp last year or year before at Petit LeMans.  The team went crazy when they were DQ'd

It was last year.  After he piled the car into the wall under the bridge at T11 (?), he got out & started to walk away, and the marshal started herding him off, away from the car.  There was quite the discussion in the pits between the crew and the race officials, and eventually the car was reinstated.  BUT ... even though the car was stopped before pit in, the marshals had pushed it into the old pit lane across the track.  With the damage, there was no way Scott could get the car repaired enough to make a lap and pull into the pits where the team could then perform repairs.

HAHA.  Thanks for catching that.  That's what I meant.  Dont know why i was thinking Scott Speed.  But that would be cool if he came and raced ALMS.  I fixed my original posts, but kept your quote Smiley
