This is a news release from Sebring Raceway.... I find this funny. Do you actually know how far away some of this stuff is?
Let me see, if you stay in orlando, you would have to leave your room at wake up at 4am, leave by 5am Saturday in order to make the start of the race. I am approximating for traffic. You stay all day in the sun until the race ends at 10:30pm, watch the winner's circle festivities, get out of there by Midnight, in your room by 3am..... Damn that is a long day.
Accommodation Options Remain for Sebring
Sebring, FL - Although hotel accommodations are virtually impossible to find near Sebring during the 52nd Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, there are still numerous options available to race fans.
Gates open at 7 am on Wednesday, March 17, and remain open 24 hours a day through Saturday, March 20. The Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring is America's premier sports car endurance race, and kicks-off the 2004 American Le Mans Series.
Although reserved trackside parking is nearly sold-out, Sebring International Raceway has plenty of unreserved camping spaces for motorhomes and other vehicles. The historic Sebring circuit features over 300 acres for camping and parking, including a free camping/parking area located just outside the front entrance. A shuttle service will be available for race fans using this option.
For race fans who prefer hotels, rooms are available in the Winter Haven and Lake Wales area, about one-hour north of Sebring International Raceway, and in Okeechobee, about 45 minutes south of the famous central Florida circuit.
"With record ticket sales, it is not surprising that lodging within the immediate Sebring area is difficult to find," stated Sebring Raceway President Tres Stephenson. "However, camping at the track has become a tradition for many of our fans. In addition, Sebring is less than two hours driving distance from Tampa, Sarasota, Orlando and West Palm Beach, giving fans from outside the immediate area expanded lodging options."
Lodging in private homes is also offered. Race fans can contact the Sebring Chamber of Commerce at 863-385-8448 to check availability.
