Hey I just realized that the
Hazardous Sports Girls **
might not be at the races this year**.
ZIP Racing 'disappeared' right before Petit LeMans last year, and the reports were that they were "saving the cars for 2004". ZIPRacing's website has no updates about 2004, nor does Hazardous-Sports.com - and ZIP ain't on the Sebring Entry list!!
To be honest, it's not surprising when you think about it. Hazardous Sports makes a helmet bag (that was really their 'main' product), and had a pretty fashionable clothing line that they sold at the races. But ZIP racing had a very nice team truck, Hazardous parties (I was lucky enough to get an invite to the Trois Rivieres party), a group of Hazardous models at 4 or 5 of the races, etc. It was good to see a team/sponsor spending money to have FUN and to get attention (they certainly were successful).
How many helmet bags were they planning to sell to make it all worthwhile??? As ZIP racing couldn't afford to finish the season, evidently the answer was 'not enough'..
So I'm assuming that's the end of ZIP (anyone know what Steve Ivankovich will be up to this year?) and also the end of the HS fun in the ALMS - if anyone knows differently, give us the low-down!!
