I cheated on Sebring.
I'm feeling guilty!!
Normally Sebring is the first event of the year for me.. BUT
I just got home a few hours ago from my first ever ICE-RACE weekend!!

It was cold, but I came prepared so it wasn't too bad (-11F with wind).
It WAS FANTASTIC. It may be February, there may have been snow on the ground past my knees, but it smelled like racing, it sounded like racing, and by golly, it was racing!!
FAK!(not 'nascar') the 'regular rubber' group was doing lap times of 1m10secs, and they were a ton of fun. Then came the 'studs'(!) which blazed around the track like they were on dry gravel road -- 37 seconds a lap and a huge 'spray' of ice powder. They were insane! Made the first group look like Panoz racing school group compared to a LMP1. Some of the cars actually were in both classes, they just change over the tires between sessions!
I even got to be a passenger during a 15-lap race - ice-racing is definitely harder than it looks! Had a couple of rollovers during the weekend, including one on my corner, thankfully the cars were flipped back over and the car & drivers resumed racing in the next sessions.
If you're in a northern area (US or Canada) where they hold an ice races, do yourself a favour and check it out!
